Education & Training
Countering corruption in the defence sector requires a high level of political commitment, and the active engagement of the defence leadership in initiating change. Corruption in security and defence has been a global issue and exists in nearly every country to varying degrees.
In order to contribute to nations understanding of corruption as a distinct issue for which an overarching approach is required, and to enable individuals and groups to have a policy impact within defence institutions, Transparency International has developed a one week education course for senior officers and defence officials in various countries around the world. The course has been developed in collaboration with NATO, but is available to both NATO and non-NATO countries.
Since 2008 the course has been successfully run thirteen times in 5 countries, and has included over 250 participants from 22 nations.
